Husband Displays ‘Please Hire My Wife’ Billboards Around Local Town
A man whose wife was finding it difficult to find employment aided her hunt by creating a billboard campaign.
Brandon Stuart of Toledo, Ohio now has his wife Holly’s face all around the town, with a ’Please Hire My Wife’ plea next to it. He thought of it as a way to assist in her endless search for work, as six months of disappointment was wearing her patience thin.
“Over the last five or six months, she’s had a few opportunities come along that we thought looked really positive and unfortunately they just didn’t work out. I felt a sense of, she was getting a little frustrated, but not losing hope. But I wanted to do something maybe help lift her spirits if nothing else,” Stuart explained. Budget cuts at the University of Toledo led her to lose her position, and all of her subsequent efforts failed to materialise.
Brandon went behind his wife’s back to organise the billboard effort, as he expected that Holly wouldn’t have agreed, if she knew. “I think I definitely would have said no,” Holly said. “I would have thought it would have been too embarrassing to have my face up on a billboard but, now I’m having fun with it and hopefully a good opportunity will come out of it.”
As yet, the hunt has yet to lead to any good leads, but it’s still early days, as it only went up on Monday. It lists all of the key points on her CV, such as her MBA, degrees and experience, as well as a contact email to go along with it.
On the role she’s looking for, Holly said: “What I would really love to do would be to lead the training and development of an organization, to work with the on-boarding of new employees to focus on developing the existing talent and helping organizations improve their overall effectiveness, to really help organizations maximize performance by tapping in to asset, tapping in to their human capital.”
